Sydney Talent Company & Sydney Playhouse proudly present a 2014 NSW Senior Week Official Event “Stories with Grandpa,” a special screening of short films for the young-at-heart and for all other generations!

For the whole family to enjoy, these short stories cover childhood magical fantasies, teenage and parent anxieties, and how retirement will be in the future.

Films shown will include the following special projects directed by Jon-Claire Lee and performed by Sydney Talent Company actors and students. Jon-Claire is a professional director, writer and actor, having been featured in such films as Muriel’s Wedding, Nim’s Island and Mao’s Last Dancer; TV programs as Home & Away, Joh’s Jury, Sea Patrol, etc.. He is a graduate of one of the top five drama schools in the world, New York University Tisch School of the Arts – Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting and Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in Directing.

Only One Wish (A young girl finds a magic lamp, rubs it and lands herself in a journey with dramatic consequences.) Winner of Best Actress Award for Melina Krkac (48 Hour Project Film Competition 2013) Cast: Melina Krkac, Charlie Oliver, Darcy Keogh, Tilly Keogh, Charlotte Craig, Angelica Armeni, Sophia Chesworth and Jake Semaan.

The Perfect Sister (Cody searches for his step-sister Amber, but finds himself in a whole series of comic misadventures) Video Recording of The Winner of The Best Play Award (Fast & Fresh Play Festival 2012) Cast: Toni-Rose Abdel-Ahad, Cayde Fowler, Sophie Liddle, Jasmine Neal, Kyle Thompson and Lucas Semaan. Written by Kyle Thompson.

Hide and Seek (A parent’s worst fears – a predator stalks teenagers after sports practice. A cautionary tale that will encourage every parent to keep their children within their sights more often in the future.) They call their best friend Jade before “getting out of town.” The entire film takes place on a smartphone. This film contains some strong adult language.) The Last Picnic World Premiere Screening (In a futuristic over-populated world, people retire at the age of 13 and live on only for a short time afterwards. This is the story of one individual who rebels against the universal law.) Cast: Laneikka Denne, Freja Baskeyfield, Daniel Gauci, Aaron Nesbitt, Benjamin Nunnari, Jacob El Mahir, Jessica Peake.
